SCHOLARS' CHRISTMAS OUTREACH

The PJLFI organized an outreach program last  December 7, 2006 for Marillac Hills, a center in Alabang, Muntinlupa City for sexually abused girls, most of whom have no relatives to turn to. In the center, there are a total of 222 residents: 4 babies, 20 girls aged 7-12 years old, 68 aged 13-16 and 130 aged 17-20.

Ambassador P.J. Lhuillier scholars from the University of Santo Tomas, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, University of Makati, Our Lady of Fatima University, San Juan de Dios College, and the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila were gathered by PJLFI to share their time and talent for this activity.  As mentioned by Atty. Cesar Vidal, the activity aims to immerse the scholars in social work, for them to experience, as the Foundation’s beneficiaries, how to help other beneficiaries.

They facilitated games and presented dance numbers for the girls of Marillac Hills. They also distributed snacks and Christmas gifts prepared by the Foundation.

The activity was truly worthwhile as Marillac Hills seldom has donors, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) which runs the said center.

Afterwards, the scholars had a get-together at McDonald’s J. P. Rizal Branch with PJLFI personnel to celebrate the rare and unforgettable experience of beneficiaries serving other beneficiaries!

Ninong Ceb was also there to spread some cheer.

It was a fun-filled activity for both scholars and Marillac Hills residents

The girls were all smiles after the games.

...and gift-giving.
