The Young Journalist Association of Mandaluyong (Y-JAM) held its 2nd annual spelling bee in partnership with P.J.L.F.I. and Mandaluyong Mayor Benhur Abalos on November 7, 2008. Thirteen schools from all over the city sent their student representatives to compete in this competition, which took place in the city hall’s Kaban ng Hiyas Auditorium.  

 

For the second year in a row, Mandaluyong Science High School won first place, followed by Lourdes School of Mandaluyong in second place and Good Shepherd Catholic School in third place. Prizes for the students include trophies, cash prizes, and one-year fire and accident insurance from P.J.L.F.I.’s sister affiliate, P. Lhuillier Insurance Agency (PLIA).

 

P.J.L.F.I. Corporate Secretary and Executive Trustee Atty. Cesar Vidal, Mandaluyong Vice-Mayor Renato B. Sta. Maria and Y-JAM founder and journalist Mr. Lito Cinco gave out the prices to the winning participants.
